Double breasted jackets although elegant, if not paired right, can end up looking a little too conservative (translation: boring). I fell in love with this ivory beauty from The Limited and even though I bought the matching pants for a white on white, super chic ensemble, I wanted to explore the endless possibilities.
The end result? Besides my bed looking like my closet threw up on it? I put together four outfits for a two-part series featuring this gorgeous white jacket that makes me feel oh-so-fabulous! Today we will explore two polished, business-appropriate looks:
BLACK & WHITE ELEGANCE
This is understated elegance at its finest. B&W looks are clean, sharp, polished and sophisticated. I firmly believe you cannot own too many black and white pieces in your closet. I paired the jacket with a ribbed, tight-fitting skirt, some opaque black stockings and some patent leather and suede kitten heels from Nine West. Pair it with some bold red lips to sex up this look in a subtle way. The contrast between the two opposite colors commands attention. I find it impossible to not look when I see B&W attires passing by. This is a perfect example of how skin need not be shown in order to turn heads.
I scored these pants at Nordstrom Rack some time ago. This look is fun and exciting while remaining polished and demure. The contrast between the bright greens and blacks, and the ivory jacket makes this look eye-catching while giving it a tropical feel. This is the perfect substitute for a dress for formal day-time events such as a bridal showers, baby showers, baptisms, luncheons and even a business lunches or meetings. The key to pairing a white jacket with brightly colored patterns it to keep everything else neutral. You can throw in a pop of color with some hot pink lips or a brightly colored clutch if you’re feeling adventurous. I went with a more traditional, creamy look.
Come back on Friday to peep the last two looks! Hint: They are H-O-T.
Big thanks to my talented sister for directing and photographing this shoot.
