I’ve heard some hilariously awful reviews about the movie. From “It has cheesy background music like a Lifetime movie,” to “My penis was yawning of boredom,” the reviews have been predominantly bleh, so I’ve decided to wait until I can watch it from the comfort of my own home, and change the channel at any given moment.
I didn’t let the terrible movie reviews stop me from falling in love with this gray, faux leather midi skirt from Forever 21. This was in fact, love at first sight. Confession: I have a thing for midi skirts. I find them so chic, so retro and ladylike. I especially like them in bright patterns or interesting fabrics. I also love Tiramisu which is a HUGE problem right now since I gave up all sweets for lent. Yes… I’ve given up sugar for lent. This means no sugar in my coffee, no ice-cream (or sherbert, or frozen yogurt, or gelato) and no sweet baked goods or desserts. So unless its natural state looks like a fruit, I must pretend like it’s poisonous. If you know me, then you know I have a SERIOUS sweet-tooth. Like so big, I’m the girl who thinks of dinner as an excuse for dessert. I will stop eating a delicious piece of steak just to make sure I have enough room for a soft, warm, delicious treat with ice-cream on top. My biggest weakness? Frosted Flakes, Honey Smacks and Lucky Charms! With cooold milk. Which brings me to my next point.
Last year, I gave up dairy for lent and jumped on the almond milk band-wagon. The effects on my body were such that I never went back to milk! Not even for my daily café con leche. My digestive system feels better, I have more energy, my complexion remains clear more than not and it helped me break up with my cereal addiction which wasn’t letting me get as lean as I wanted to (plus, all the sugar! And cereal just doesn’t taste as good with almond milk). So, like my current once-in-while REAL café con leche, I’m hoping to establish a more sporadic relationship with sugar (and learning to not need it for coffee). And I’m hoping that this lent season and the feeling that I’m doing it to give thanks for the infinite blessings we receive every day, will help me be strong.
What did you give up for lent this year? Do tell…
Stay fabulous! (And shout out to my fiancé for snapping these pics!)
