This past weekend I popped my MBFW Swim cherry (God that sounds crass, I don’t think I have ever used that expression out loud). That’s right, I had never been to Swim Week prior to this year. I’ve realized that the older I get, the less tolerance I have for big crowds and for sweating my ass off while fully clothed (concerts don’t fall into this category). I thought I would be nice and fresh in my cotton Zara dress: WRONG! Even my pasties were melting off!
I am glad I made it out to a couple of events though. Our first stop was the INTERMIX pop-up at the Delano hotel hosted by one of my favorite Miami Fashion Bloggers, Maria Tettamanti a.k.a. The Wordy Girl. The nail-art booth was fab and JugoFresh provided some much-needed delicious refreshments in the 100 degree weather. Did I mention it was hot?
Second and last stop: Escape Miami 2 at the National hotel hosted and organized by local badass blogger Annie Vazquez or better known as TheFashionPoet. The event was fantastic, replete with fabulous local vendors and the usual fashionable Miami peeps; plus I got to meet Annie in person which was glorious for me since I religiously follow her blog and I dig her style.
My suggestion: if you’re somewhat Agoraphobic like myself, pick two or three events you really want to attend and get there early. That way, you wont feel burnt out from trying to be in 10 different places at the same time and you will have the opportunity to scope out the scene, say hi to familiar faces and meet new fabulous people. Hopefully next year I’ll be brunching with fellow Miami Fashion Bloggers when this little blog of mine becomes legit – smiles proudly –
Cheers to first times! Well, most first times.
Stay fabulous! #OwnYourGlam
