What’s the perfect gift for the cosmetics obsessed crazy gal in your life? Yup. You guessed right: MAKEUP, MAKEUP AND MORE MAKEUP.
With the holidays finally behind us (thank God), I am taking back ownership of my brain as it feels it was hacked by the holiday craziness. Between dinner parties, work holiday soirees, family from out-of-town visits, Coquito night at my house, and then the actual holiday eves and days, I feel like I’ve been on a treadmill with no stop button since mid-November. Talk about exhausting! Strangely though, I’m a little sad about taking down our Christmas tree which will be happening at some point this week.
Anyway, take a peek at the goodies I got for Christmas! The LORAC lippies, eyeshadow and eyeliner are from moi to moi. The rest is from my amazing boyfriend who confessed to following me around Sephora taking pictures of stuff I looked in love with. That’s some serious 007 skills!
Enough chit-chat. I will be posting more in-depth reviews along with looks. In the meantime, here’s my two cents on everything so far…
TARTE: HIGH PERFORMANCE NATURALS.
TARTE BON VOYAGE COLLECTOR’S SET & TRAVEL BAG (above)
I mean, how cute is this travel bag! It comes with a limited edition eyeshadow palette, a lip gloss, a lip tint, mascara, cheek stain, their famous Maracuja Oil and Amazonian Clay setting powder.
Confession: I am brand new to the tarte line. I recently embarked on a search for natural, cruelty-free cosmetics as my skin is quickly changing due to hormonal changes in my late twenties. This line seems to be exactly what I’ve been searching for. All products are made with premium, yummy ingredients and most importantly, they are formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, sodium lauryl sulfate, triclosan, synthetic fragrances and gluten…amongst other yucky stuff that some of us happen to not react well to.
The eyeshadow palette (below) has shimmery and matte shades and while they are not the most pigmented (hello, I’m used to MAC eyeshadows), they get the job done. The shades are easy to apply, they are nicely textured and fairly easy to blend. They are also buildable, which means the color becomes more noticeable as you apply more without looking cakey. I love the range of colors and the fact that it fits perfectly into the travel bag. With this palette, I don’t need to carry any additional eyeshadows when doing my makeup at the gym in the morning.
Unfortunately, this set can’t be found on Tarte or Sephora’s website anymore. I saw it on Amazon for a crazy mark-up.
Two thumbs up! The colors are subtle and natural and the formula is just right. Not too creamy, not too stiff and the minty feeling and scent is lovely! Plus the color lasts for hours. Find it here.
TARTE PARK AVE PRINCESS CONTOUR PALETTE (above)
I am absolutely loving this! Unlike the eyeshadows, the bronzer and blush are highly pigmented and blend like a dream. The highlighter is a little more subtle, yet visible and easy to blend as well. It is slim and perfect to throw in your travel makeup bag. Find it here.
NARS VIRTUAL DOMINATION CHEEK PALETTE (above)
Straight from my Christmas wish-list and I’m still on the fence about this one (gasp!). I know, I know. The formula is strongly pigmented, which I like. The cons? It visibly sits on top of your skin. The highlighter is too sparkly for my taste. I like natural, barely-there highlighting powders. The particles in this one are largely noticeable and they are colored (yes, like confetti) making it really obvious. I’ll play with this palette a little more. At $65, I want to be completely satisfied. Find it here.
LORAC ROCKIN’ RED HOT LIMITED EDITION 8 MINI LIP GLOSS COLLECTION (above)
I scored this and the below LORAC stuff for a ridiculously low price on HauteLook.com. They have the most amazing makeup sales every so often and I always take advantage and add new products to my beauty arsenal.
These lip glosses are AMAZEBALLS (yes, I use that word in print, never out loud). They smell like a freshly baked vanilla cupcake, sweet but not overpowering, and the colors are gorgeous. Also, I can’t get over the how cute the caps are! The gloss has a little bit of shimmer, but not too much where you feel like a thirteen year-old. Loving this and using them on a daily basis.
LORAC EYESHADOW & PRO CREAM EYELINER (above)
If you follow me, you already know im loving this emerald-green eyeshadow. Check out my holiday glam look here. I made a mess with the cream liner the other day. I’ll try it again with a different brush and report back to you guys.
EAU DE CARTIER GOUTTE ROSE (above)
Also straight from my holiday wish list, this perfume is a dream for people with sensitive noses. I suffer from migraines and strong perfume is one of my worst triggers. This scent is soft yet present and very feminine. Delish. Find it here.
So, where you naughty, or nice? What did you get under the tree?
Besos! Stay Fabulous!
