I am happy to report that my grandmother had surgery last week and it was a great success! Her kidney tumor was removed and no remaining cancerous cells were left behind! Needless to say, we are over the moon and the sun is shining brighter than ever. Thank you, thank you, and thank you to all of you for your good wishes, the good energy sent our way and for all your prayers! The doctor himself said this is nothing short of a miracle (considering the initial grim prognosis) and once she fully heals from the surgery, my lovely grandmother can go back to her normal life which means she’ll be visiting us in Miami pretty soon to recite her Colombian nature-inspired poetry, sing to us (I’m not kidding) and make her BOMB-ASS empanadas and bunuelos.
Amongst other things, the fiancé got a big promotion at work, my skin antibiotics are finally starting to really work (can I have a YAAASS for clear skin please?) and Urban Decay’s new Naked Smoky palette will be available at Sephora in three days so you know I’ll be getting my hands on this baby ASAP.
In short, life is good, like very good. And the same way I share the not-so-good moments with you, I thought I would honor the advice in my last post and slow down for a second to practice mindful gratefulness and to share some of my joys, which is precisely that.
These pics were taken by my sister at the FSU campus a couple of weeks ago. We spent two days touring the campus, going to family orientation, helping her get settled into her dorm and walking around downtown Tallahassee (all while holding back tears and secretly praying for her safety the entire time, like a true mental case). We also got our margarita on at local Mexican favorite spot called El Patron. This place is authentic Mexican goodness so if you find yourself in Tally, do stop by for their tacos and ginormous margaritas.
Needless to say, this Florida summer heat is making it absolutely unbearable to wear ANYTHING tight so I live in flowy garments because I seriously can’t even. I also realized that I am IN LOVE with this orange, leather boho bag that has made several appearances on le blog recently.
Easy, breezy (and bright) is the theme in my life these days and this outfit reflects just that.
Stay fabulous!
