Some people collect stamps, some collect coins, others collect postcards, the wealthy collect expensive cars, some people I know collect selfies (yes, of themselves)…Can you guess what the most collected items are in the U.S.? If you’re reading this blog you probably won’t know; the most collected items in our country are action figures. I know, right? I guess it’s a
male boy thing.
Anyhoo, I’m a sucker for handcrafted artisan jewelry; pendants to be specific. I tingle with the anticipation of exploring a new artisan marketplace in search for an addition to my growing collection of natural stones, antique pendants and silver charms. Rare and different items are my favorite, especially the intricate ones that look like they have been made by hand; the imperfect and slightly rugged kind.
Exploring Seattle’s famous Pike Place Market last week (check out my Seattle post), I came across this little gem. It was love at first sight.
The market stand is called Crystal Bouquet (how appropriate!). The lovely description card reads:
“Your “Crystal Bouquet” has been hand-crafted for you by the Crabtree family. Our flowers are grown in our family garden in the picturesque Stillaguamish River Valley in beautiful Washington State. Every Crystal Bouquet is fashioned from fine quality beveled glass and finished with a delicately soldered border… a gift to be treasured for a lifetime.”
And so I shall.
What do you like to collect? If you know of some awesome local artisan jewelers, do share!
