I love to shop! What red-blooded woman doesn’t? There is such a thing as retail therapy and it is not made up by us in order to get away with our addiction. After a long day at work, or if I just need to get out of my head, I go to a store and usually just browse (seriously, I can browse without buying anything). It can be any store. Heck, it can even be a grocery store! Perfectly categorized and neatly displayed products of any kind make my spirit soar (I want to break out in song and dance upon entering the Container Store). I know all my fellow OCD crazies get me. Confession…(don’t kill me) I HATE shopping for clothes. I’d sooner get a root canal than get undressed in a dressing room to try on clothes. My solution? I buy what I like and try it on in the comfort of my home. I grew up hating shopping for clothes because nothing ever fit properly. Everything I tried on was big. All my bottoms had to be taken in and it made me feel even worse about my awkwardly lanky figure. As a result, I naturally gravitated towards shoes, accessories and cosmetics. Shopping for those never made me feel self-conscious about my weight and I felt like I was on the same playing field as everyone else who enjoyed shoes, accessories and makeup. And then one day, I grew out of adolescence (thank the Lord baby Jesus), accepted myself and started loving my body (read about it here).
Anyhoo, if you like to shop and you’re a beauty junkie like me, you NEED to be subscribed to at least one beauty box subscription. It is like Christmas ever month when my Birchbox arrives! It costs just $10 a month, you fill out your profile and tell them what rocks your socks and BOOM, you have a present from you to you every month at your doorstep (happy dance cue). My Birchbox arrived yesterday and it was a total score this month:
