Own Your Glam is a space in which I celebrate the beauty of being a woman; more specifically, I celebrate the beauty of being a bad-ass, fiercely independent, educated, ambitious, confident, takes-no-shit-from-anyone kind of woman!
Own Your Glam is not just about looking good; it is about FEELING good, it goes beyond the ability to purchase and literally “own” the latest fashion trends and beauty products. I like to think of it as…a state of mind if you will. It is about owning your sex appeal, owning your confidence, owning (and wearing!) that invisible crown that makes you feel fierce, beautiful and invincible. Own Your Glam is about owning all the things that call to you as a woman and all the things that make you special and unique. Now, lets not get it twisted, this is not a “girly girl-power” blog. This is a space in which I will share my often eclectic personal style, hot Miami living, and my unhealthy obsession with cosmetics, all through the awesome lens of the Own Your Glam state of mind. Get it? Good!
Own Your Glam was born out my good friend’s suggestion. She said people are constantly asking me for makeup tips and advice, or straight up asking me to do their makeup for events. I started paying attention and realized that hardly a day went by without someone asking me, “What foundation/moisturizer/eyeliner do you use?” or, “How do you make your hair stay like that?” or, “Can you show me how to do my eyes like you do?” or, “Where did you buy your dress/shoes/earrings?” and, “What do you think of this outfit I just bought?”
So who is Tatiana?
I am the Queen Blogger of Own Your Glam – It is really easy to be the self-proclaimed queen of anything when you’re the only person in your “kingdom” (you know you love that).
All kidding aside, I was born in Medellin, Colombia. By the time I graduated high school here in Miami, I had attended 10 schools growing up (talk about always being “the new girl”). We had lived in Colombia, Mexico and Spain. All that moving around can get really freakin’ lonely when you’re always trying to make new friends and adapt to new cultures so, I found refuge in reading (mainly embarrassingly cheesy, corny romance novels). If there is ONE THING I could do for a living, it would be reading (or eating Tiramisu, or both!). From that same place, my love for writing was born as I always kept a journal around to ponder things like, “Why are other girls so mean?” or, “Why does everyone keep making fun of my accent?” and, “When will my mom FINALLY let me shave my legs?”
Soon-after I started writing short stories of my own (mainly about dragons, evil witches and goblins) and I would force my parents’ friends to read them during dinner parties.
Fast forward almost two decades and a few odd jobs here and there while attending college, I started working for Clinique; my cosmetics obsession soared to new heights. I learned the importance of having a good skincare routine and learned the art of professional makeup which led me to becoming a Freelance Makeup Artist for MAC Cosmetics. In between all of this I graduated Florida International University’s Mass Communications program with a Major in Advertising and a Minor in Psychology. In 2016, I decided to follow my passion for makeup artistry and have since been dedicated to the pursuit of happiness by doing what I love: Helping others feel beautiful! If I am not working, or home cuddled up to a great book, my husband and our Yorkie, you can find me at Equinox trying to build some muscle mass, trying out a new local food spot or at the beach under an umbrella, thoroughly immersed in one of my favorite glossies while munching on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos. So if you ever see the Own Your Glam girl around town, make a beeline for me and please say hello!
